May Bicentennial Award is issued in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Revolution of May 25th, 1810. It is considered one of the milestones in the history of Argentina, as it was the first step that led to our independence from Spain in 1816.

During four days, all Argentinian radio amateurs will be allowed to change their callsign’s prefixes, according to the following criteria:

a) LU stations will shift their prefixes to LR
b) LW stations will shift their prefixes to LV
c) AZ stations will shift their prefixes to LT
d) Amateur Radio Clubs and Associations will shift their prefixes to LS
e) Scouts Groups, Schools and any other institutions holding a license, will shift their prefixes to AY.

For example, LU7ADC will be on the air as LR7ADC; LW4DIF as LV4DIF; AZ1ZZ as LT1ZZ; LU4AA (RCA HQ) as LS4AA and LU1ASJ (Scout Group San Jorge) as AY1ASJ.

This special award will be issued in two classes to radio amateurs and SWLs worldwide who achieve a certain number of different prefixes.

Since this event is a very special occasion for Argentina, you are all invited to join us on the air to celebrate.

1. Participants
May Bicentennial Award is available to all radio amateurs and SWLs worldwide.

2. Period
From 03:00 UTC May 22nd to 03:00 UTC May 26th

3. Contacts
All contacts must be two-way. There is no limitation of bands or modes.

4. Classes
The award will be issued in two classes:
a) Class I, 10 different special prefixes worked.
b) Class II, 5 different special prefixes worked.
